Hooray! Finally all our stuff is being delivered. Boxes everywhere, but it probably only took them 3 and a half hours to get it all unloaded. Great work by the guys at www.chessmoving.com.au/about/office-locations/launceston in particular to Narelle who organised everything so efficiently.
We finally have a microwave, dining table and chairs, TV, all of our supplies from Aldi and Costco, the canned food, spices, pots and pans, etc. We will have to sleep on the air mattress for a couple more nights while I glue a place on the king bed frame I wrecked when I dismantled it back in Mornington, but we will survive. Tomorrow we should have proper broadband as well, should be an improvement on the mobile broadband. By then I should have all the computer stuff set up. Life is good.

We are just glad to finally be in our property, mortgage free, and with all our stuff. We figure despite a the crap we have been through since the end of November we’re going to try not to think about it. The previous owners left us a letter, but neither of us want to even look at it while everything is so raw. We want nothing to do with them, their solicitors, their real estate agents, or even our conveyancers for now.
These wonderful “Christians” would not allow us early access to the property while the title was being sorted out, instead implying that we would somehow rip them off despite everything we had set in motion to move here, including the entire funds for the settlement sitting in the solicitors trust account for over 3 weeks.
In the end it cost us over $2,600 in extra storage fees, accommodation, petrol, etc. not to mention all the stress of being kept in the dark and not knowing when the new title would be available. We stayed in 4 different motels over that time, we couldn’t even put a positive spin on it by turning it into a holiday with all the uncertainty. We had to cancel 2 of the bookings and one, Queechy Motel in Bicheno, would not give us a refund when Eva got sick and we had to stay in Launceston instead.
It would be very easy to be bitter about the whole experience, but we are here now, free and clear in our own place, and looking to the future.
