Discovered another issue since the last rain, the patio does not drain completely, there are a couple of spots where the water sits for hours, and eventually even the pavers up under the eaves next to the house get a bit damp. I pulled up a couple of pavers, and underneath is painted concrete. It looks like it may have originally been a concrete patio, but even then it did not have the correct gradient to drain properly. I’m going to try removing a complete line of pavers to see if that will make it drain a bit faster at least. The entire thing needs to be redone properly, but maybe I can just get someone with a concrete saw to cut some channels so it will drain over to the stormwater grate.
We are still getting a lot of smoke here from the bushfires in Victoria coming across Bass Strait. It’s less than 200 km to Wilson’s Promontory, so not that far to travel. They are even seeing smoke from the NSW bushfires over in New Zealand, and possibly even in South America.
Still lots of wildlife around, I usually see a few kangaroo out in the back paddock at night, and we see the wallaby around the front yard. Here’s a few photos, plover, swamp hen, wallaby, green rosella..
