The credit card has just clicked over for a new month, so we decided to go all out and buy 4 avocado trees which had just come in at the local nursery. We have 2 type A’s and 2 type B’s, Bacon, Hass, Reed, and Fuerte. They are all supposed to be fairly frost tolerant and do well here in Tasmania, so let’s see how they go. I’ve had them for a week now just waiting to get some stakes and wire so I could protect them from the wallabies, etc.
All planted out, about 5 metres apart in a nice line we can see from the kitchen window. Now all we have to do is wait a few years….
As of March 30 they imposed a 4 week lock down of sorts here in Tasmania, you can’t leave home for any non-essential purpose. It’s a bit confusing, but going to work, shopping for groceries, booze, the pharmacy is OK. Lots of stuff is still open though, we still go to Bunnings, Petstock, and a few other places in Launceston.  There is also some rule you can’t be in groups of more than 2 in the supermarket or when out walking unless all are family members that live together. There are 80 cases now in Tasmania, most from the cruise ships, and one elderly passenger has died from it. Anyway, for us life is pretty much normal, even under these circumstances. We have practised social distancing for years.
