We are finally getting some cooler weather here, and it’s nice to be able to work outdoors for a while without getting too hot. I’ve been rotating around doing a few different chores that need doing. Sometimes in the mornings when it’s coldest I like to have a bash at stump busting. I have one near the driveway, and another one further back that I will get to eventually. The method is still the same, dig down around the roots, start splitting off sections with steel wedges, wooden wedges, and pieces of firewood. Use the maul and mattock to cut the roots, and the large crowbar to help with the splitting. Use the split wood to burn the remainder of the stump, and you are done. All that’s left is to fill it all back in and sow some new grass.
