Down here in Tasmania the Spring rain has started, we had 30 mm yesterday – about 1.25″, and it looks like it will be a wet weekend here. We get a bit of a break Monday and Tuesday and then it starts up again. The weather people say we are in for a wetter Spring and Summer than last year. The ditch/creek was full and overflowing our little dam and there was water standing out in the paddock.

The plovers are still out in the back paddock on the nest, I was planting a couple more trees I bought yesterday and wandered over to have a look and saw four eggs. We can see the spot from the laundry window and hopefully they all hatch out and nothing gets them. I suspect there may have been some baby wood ducks and that the kookaburras may have got them, but I haven’t mentioned that to Eva. I have been out a few times after dark and seen a couple of the Eastern Barred Bandicoots in our yard which is a good sign. I haven’t heard back from the guy running the planting program so I guess I will call him this week. The ground is still fairly wet out the back and there is a good chance it won’t be so dry this summer, so anything we plant has a chance of success.
