The self watering tubs and benches that I ordered arrived Monday and I have already planted out four of them and have enough potting mix for the other four. I have them positioned in the shade house facing north so they get the most sun during the day since it comes over in a lower arc this time of year. I have transplanted spinach, lettuce, and rocket so far and this weekend I plan to move in at least one tub full of the bush type beans. You are supposed to be able to grow okra and even potatoes, so I might try those. The okra in the garden is only just now getting a few blossoms so I might try transplanting a few to see if they make it. It’s too late to buy tomato and cucumber seedlings so I have broken off bits to see if they will take. I’m really looking forward to trying this out for winter, plus you can go straight in from the sliding door to pick your stuff, avoiding the cold and wet. I still plan to make some benches using old timber to get stuff up off the floor out there.

We are supposed to get a visit from the phone company on Monday to finish the fibre to the premises installation, they will take the connection from the side of the house right through to the modem upstairs. We also have our fall back time change tomorrow morning so now there will only be 15 hours between us. There is a lot happening this month, I have to start spraying weed killer on the spots where I will be planting out the tube stock by mid April and will probably do some more mowing and general weed killing before that as well. I will probably contact the guy from the conservation department about the final details as well. I would love a little sign or plaque that I could put on the gate saying our property is involved, etc.
