We finally have our wood heater installed after waiting about a month of very cold weather. We definitely should have done this earlier. This is the Pacific Energy (Canada) Neo 2.5 high efficiency wood heater. Once it’s lit, there is no visible smoke coming out of the flue, just a heat distortion in the air. The entire house is warm and toasty, we don’t use the heat pump in that room, all the doors to the other rooms are open, and the space heaters don’t even come on. After 20 days my prediction for the quarterly electricity bill has gone from $970 to $855 so a pretty good result. We have not used a lot of wood, still plenty in the wood shed and stacked up behind the annex. At this rate we probably still have another 4 years of firewood available.
