Work continues here on the new hen house/chicken coop, it now has a roof that does not leak – we had nearly ½” of rain the other day which was a good test for it. I bought some more lengths of non-structural timber and some plywood to fit out the inside and am working on the final internal layout. The piece of the old shed that makes the back wall has a door in the centre and will enclose part of that and have the nesting box inside that area. At the front I have a sheet of polycarbonate roofing I already have at the top and wire mesh at the bottom. Today I installed the new automatic door which is at the side closest to the old chicken coop. The new chickens have already been checking it out a bit. We got three of the green eggs yesterday and one pale one from the older hens so we are now way out in front. We are looking up meal recipes for eggs so we can use them all up.
